THE WEEKEND IS HERE AGAIN! It looks like a rainy one, but here are a few free activities to keep you busy:
1. Shop til you drop — Kick off your weekend with a huge shopping day called
Shop Till You Drop, an arts and crafts market, Saturday, September 12. Browse more than 200 booths of unique merchandise at the Berry Center, 8877 Barker Cypress in NW Houston. This event, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., is sponsored by the Copperfield Women’s Club.
2. See stunts by Hollywood pros — Don’t miss
two Hollywood stuntmen, a motorcycle stunt team, car show, live bands, and kids activities at
FallFest 2009 Saturday, September 12. This free event serves as a citywide outreach and fundraiser for a great ministry called Springboard. The fun lasts from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Greenspoint Mall, I45N & Beltway 8.
3. Watch stunning ballet —
The Trilogy: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will be a remarkable performance Friday, September 11 and Saturday, September 12 at 8 p.m. Performances by Dominic Walsh Dance Theater and the Sarasota Ballet at Miller Outdoor Theatre, 100 Concert Drive.
4. Fun at the fiesta –It’s a Ballet Folklorico performance for children as the city celebrates Hispanic Heritage in Houston.
Mosaico Cultural Mexicano features lively Mexican mariachi music and the rhythms of Bolivia Saturday September 12, 11 a.m. at Miller Outdoor Theater. All children in the audience will receive a souvenir.
5. Browse Houston’s finest — It’s
Museum District Day Saturday, September 12, with free admission all day to 17 museums in the Houston museum district. Board a shuttle to travel easily from one location to another. Lots of hands-on activities and demonstrations throughout the day at each museum. This incredible annual event is from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
6. Relive the Beatles –Forty local musicians come together as
The Fab 40 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Beatles “Abbey Road” on Saturday, September 12. Live music begins at 7 p.m. at Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney, downtown Houston.
